  1. Wow, harsh words from Alexandria. I’m calling her out for unnecessary roughness. I think your work is excellent. You have a keen eye for light. Your drawings have great contrast and a wide range of grays and plenty of black and white. Contrast is something many seasoned artists struggle with, but you nailed it. You also have a great eye for texture. Rendering feathers and hair realistically is challenging and you do it with ease. Your eagle drawing is top notch. I see great work and a fine young man who handled unnecessary roughness with patience, maturity, and grace. I am pleased to have found your blog and look forward to following your work.

    • Thank you very much for your support! In fact, Alexandria is mostly right about most of the work here, but everything seen in this page was done over a year and a half ago, all of this (minus the eagle and the black lab) is pretty rough. I have improved a great deal from these. Some artists believe hyper/photorealism lacks the creativity seen in other forms of art. I say that although the creativity is lost in the technical parts of the work, it is very much alive in the reflection and passion the artist puts into stressing over the seemingly minuscule details.

I am not lacking in other styles, I can draw off the top of my head, I can draw from life, I can work with paints, ink, and can sculpt although I have uploaded very few of these other works (this blog has gone since May without being updated). I plan on updating most parts of the website very soon.

I will upload an essay I wrote last semester which does a good job explaining hyperrealism in my opinion if you want to hear more.

Again, thank you for your kind words 🙂

I think you should really work on human anatomy/ perspective more, some of your proportions aren’t very accurate. All in all, it’s nothing that I haven’t seen before, nothing very unique, or makes me catch my breath or anything. Anyone can go and draw a random picture from the internet or from a picture you’ve taken. You’ve got some stuff down like shading, but even that you can improve on. I hope to see your work get better and better, you remind me of me when I was at your age. Keep working hard, good luck.
